<description>You have the power to transform the lives.
By supporting Facing Forward’s successful program, you provide families with both a permanent home and the tools they need to rebuild their lives.

Join us in creating a community of achievement and breaking the generational cycle of homelessness. By supporting our continuing mission, you can change the lives of generations to come.

Donate
There are three main ways to donate to Facing Forward:

Online
Your tax-deductible donation will be sent safely and securely.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/83014/1059579/donate_1.png" border="0" width="222" height="41" width_o="222" height_o="41" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/83014/1059579/donate_1_o.png" align="left" /&#62;

Volunteer
Many volunteer opportunities are available. Please contact Chad Deininger, Director of Development at (773) 265-1207 or chad@ffchicago.org to learn more or download this form.

Adopt-a-Family
You can directly make a difference in the life of a homeless family. It costs only an estimated $12,000 a year to provide a family of four with a permanent home and the tools they need to rebuild their lives. This compares to more than $20,000 to place a family of three in an emergency shelter and more than $30,000 to incarcerate a single woman in an Illinois jail. If you are interested in sponsoring a family, at either the full or partial amount, please contact Bill at (773) 265.1207. You can also involve your faith community, social club, co-workers or neighbors!

Sanctuary Place
Sanctuary Place is located on the west side of Chicago and houses Facing Forward’s main offices. It is a campus environment providing homes to 63 single women in studio apartments and 6 families in town homes. <description>Tomika: From homeless to future Air Force cadet

For Tomika, a second chance began with a dream.

“I picked the Air Force Academy Preparatory School because I wanted to do something different and special with my life after we were able to become residents through Facing Forward. I felt like I had another chance to really get a good education.”

Tomika is a 16-year-old and sophomre at the AFA Prep School. She has two younger brothers, Derell who is in 9th grade Curie and is on the school football team and another brother who is in 5th grade. Tomika’s mother Angela and her family have been residents at Sanctuary Place for three years, and the stability and security that a permanent home provides is enabling Tomika and her brothers to realize their dreams.

“The people at Facing Forward helped me to gain the confidence I needed to get a spot in the Academy. It was a competitive process, and I earned my appointment. The Academy has taught me discipline, peaceful conflict resolution and relationship building. Each student is given a lot of responsibility, and I enjoy the challenge.”

Education and a secure place for children to learn and grow are cornerstones of Facing Forward to End Homelessness’s mission. This past year:

* 96% of our children are currently enrolled in and attending school
* 12 of our young adults are currently enrolled in and attending college
* 93% of our residents have been in permanent housing for at least one year

These statistics are indicative of the success that Facing Forward has earned through years of experience and the development of best practices.

As Tomika continues with her studies, she is meeting wonderful people, aspires to play the violin and fully intends to apply for an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.

One of the hidden tragedies of homelessness is that families move from shelter to shelter with their children constantly changing schools. Facing Forward to End Homelessness breaks the cycle of homelessness by creating a stable family environment where both individuals and families can thrive.

A place where change is possible
Facing Forward residents are determined women who, finding themselves homeless and broken, made the decision to face forward and move down a new path.

By surrounding these women with a framework of support and holding them accountable for their progress, Facing Forward gives them the best chance for a new life.

We foster an atmosphere of achievement where goals are set, met and celebrated. By providing permanent housing and a full array of services, including case management, healthcare, referrals for substance abuse treatment, mental health issues, education and job training, we give Chicago's homeless individuals and children the tools they need to reclaim their lives.

Be a part of change
We have a proven track record of success. Eighty-four percent of Facing Forward alumnae families are self-sufficient and paying full market rent. And seventy-five percent of Facing Forward children are currently working at grade level and twelve percent are on the honor roll.

Your support helps Chicago’s homeless women and children reclaim their lives. Join us in breaking the generational cycle of homelessness by transforming the lives of those in need.
