Facing Forward

Antoine

Aspiring chef, Antoine, displayed a natural talent and curiosity for cooking that started at a young age. He recalls his love for learning all things food and carefully observing others in the kitchen as a kid.

When Antoine was just 17 years old, his life took a turn. He found himself on his own and experiencing homelessness for reasons he is still trying to understand and work through today.  Antoine recounts moving from shelter to shelter, staying at YMCAs and hotels before finding transitional housing that allowed him the stability to attend culinary school.

Already having come so far, Antoine found an opportunity to exit transitional living and connect with Facing Forward’s Permanent Supportive Housing. This was an even greater step on his path to self-sufficiency.

“It feels good to not have to ask anyone for anything. It’s really a blessing for me.”

Antoine already possesses the traits of a great chef — he’s a go-getter who keeps a positive attitude, even under pressure. His ultimate goal is to open a restaurant, but for now, he is working on improving his recipes and expanding the following on his Youtube cooking channel!

Together we can make sure that clients like Antoine can access the stability and resources to accomplish their goals and pursue their dreams.
